No more "art toys" from David + Sun Min?

Postby Vinylfallout on Mon Sep 22, 2008 4:24 am

From David's Twitter: Our final non-uglydoll toys all hit in 2008. That's all folks! Designs all turned in and done.

So, no more new characters like Pounda, Choco + Minty? This seems quite sad to me. Some of my favorite David and SunMin creations are non Uglies.
Vinyl Fallout, where the Sleepy Demon has all the toys.
You know the ones.
The ones you REALLY WANT!

I was confused by that too. I hope that doesn't mean that....

Yes I hope there's still more vinyls and non-ugly creations like Uver and Spiderboom!

Uver probably won't come back, since it was just a promotinal thing.

Ya, but you know what I mean. They had some pretty cool plush creations that weren't uglies. And I hope they continue to make non-uglie plush!

Twitter cut us off and I worded it all wrong.

Basically from 2009 on, every single "toy" item (or item which looks like a toy) we produce will be 100% child safe. Which means we will no longer produce "ages 15 and up" (designer) toys. Bossy Bear by Toy2R is child safe for ages 3 and up, so he stays.
But we can't continue "designer toy" projects unless the producers get each item, and each colorway of each item safety tested and certified.
It's our own new personal policy.

Uglydolls have always been and continue to be child safe and they have passed safety tests in all nations with flying colors since we first started.

It means that going forward, if you want to make a toy with us, it must be kid safe.

I edited my post because I mixed up my personal wishes with the law.
But yeah, SAFE products are good. We like safe.

Unless they are die cast metal chogokin robots from Japan.
Then all bets are off!
No no.

Oh but that said, wait till you see what we have coming in 2009 and 2010.
Mind blowing!
Will you love it or hate it?
Not sure but it will turn the toy world upside down!
Or turn it back to right side up?
We make. You decide.
Can't wait.
